I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Texas at Arlington, where I am also the Co-Director of the Medical Humanities and Bioethics Program. My current work is predominantly in medical ethics, with a focus on two areas: (1) organ donation and transplantation, and (2) whole body donation and related issues in anatomical ethics. My research on the non-consented use of unclaimed bodies in Texas medical education helped effectively end the practice statewide in 2024.

I have also worked extensively on topics in the philosophy of mind and cognitive science, which I continue to revisit periodically.

I am the Founder and Director of Make Philosophy, an open pedagogy project that designs interactive teaching tools for philosophy and makes them available for free to educators around the world.

When I’m not working, I like to look at birds and solve puzzles. I am also a Quaker.
